The Official “BLUES BROTHERS REVUE”
Thursday, January 12, 2012 at 10:15AM
Alex City Arts (funded in part by a grant from the Alabama State Council of the Arts) brings to you, The Official “BLUES BROTHERS REVUE” February 14 2012
The Only show sanctioned by Dan Aykroyd and the Belushi Estate.
This will be a perfect Valentine evening for everyone regardless of your plans earlier for dinner. The greatest show ever and the only Belushi approved Blues Brothers Revue.
Wayne Catania and Kieron Lafferty a.k.a. Jake and Elwood began touring in 1998. They were picked up for an A&E film, after being seen in a “Legends in Concert” tour in Toronto; and the film, “Lost in Vegas” then aired across North America during primetime to critical acclaim.
These boys were picked up by Victor Pisano and Judy Belushi Pisano, and they toured in 2004 doing the Blues Brothers ‘Revival’. The show was such a huge success that they all decided to put together a “Revue”. This revue has already been very successful, touring the United States, Canada, and in 2011, 25 cities in Australia. In fact, while getting contracts ready for our signing, the group was on the Australian tour. The audiences were captivated, and you will be too.
Currently, the boys are hard at work with Judy Belushi Pisano and Ann Beatts (of SNL fame) writing the pilot for a television show about the music and mayhem based on the continuing adventures of Jake and Elwood Blues
If you loved the 1980 film and music; you will not want to miss this show stopper Valentine event. In the film Jake and Elwood travel around in an old painted over and beaten up Chicago Police car. They were on a “mission from God” to round-up their former band members in order to play a big gig to raise funds for payment of overdue taxes on the orphanage run by Nuns where the brothers grew up. Come and see “The Official Blues Brothers Revue”, it travels with Jake, Elwood, the intercontinental Rhythm and Blues Band, a piping hot horn section, with gospel singers, and dancers.
The Official Revue played at Albuquerque BioPark for 55,000 people, all were delighted. The program suits all ages from 8 – 88 years old. When they played in Rocky Mount, NC last year; the audience forgot about the gas prices, bailouts and bad economy. This quote from the Chicago Skyline Paper, “Totally awesome, rollicking fun and a whole lot of soul”; and from Jeff Johnson with Chicago Sun Times, “Infectious and unbridled energy...blows the roof off”.
The touring show has excellent reviews from everywhere they have played; they banter back and forth and involve the audience; come and have a good time through the Arts.
This Valentines performance will take place at the Benjamin Russell High School Auditorium, Alex City on Tuesday, February 14th, 2012 @ 7:30pm. Doors open at 7pm. Tickets: $15.00 for adults, children 12 and under $5. Tickets will be available February 1st at the Russell Hospital Gift Shop; the Chamber of Commerce; and ‘Main Street’, Alexander City, or at the door.
